Our Mission

The Russian-Americans United Arts Council is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and developing local artists from the former Soviet Union and helping them showcase their talents in the new world. Our vision is to enrich the lives of Russian-Americans by providing services and partnerships among artists and arts/cultural organizations while promoting the artistic heritage of the community.

Our Goals:

  • To create and maintain a directory of arts organizations, services and programming;
  • to develop partnerships, networks, and collaborations among arts and cultural organizations;
  • to provide technical assistance to strengthen arts and cultural organizations;
  • to serve as a conveyor for artistic and cultural dialogue and expressions of organizations and individuals between the community and its American neighbors.

Russian-Americans:

The popular comedian David Brenner wrote in his marvelous book "I think there is a terrorist in my soup:"

"People have always immigrated to the USA in waves from a particular country, because of problems in the mother country… When each wave crashed on American shore two things happened. One was that we did something that no other country in the world had ever even come close to doing: we assimilated. People from over 200 countries around the world became something, one thing that the world had never seen before. Something brand new and wonderful. Something called Americans. The other thing that happened was that in our homes, we held on to some of the old country, like cooking, holidays, tardyons, customs. We even spoke the native tongue, but only inside."

Our native tongue is Russian and we would like to invite you inside our home.

United:

We are connecting arts organizations, artists, galleries, and arts educators with one another as well as local audiences and businesses.

We represent all segments of our community equally and without bias.

Arts Council:

We provide fundraising and marketing services to arts organizations and artists, such as cooperative advertising programs, printing services, website donation capabilities and more.

We have been together through good times and bad times, moving from communism to the present community in less than 20 years, using the arts and friendship as our main tools. Now, we have added this and two other websites as an online gathering place for creative Russian-speaking professionals and their supporters.
